Sketch Inspiration

Don't you think baby photos are the most fun to scrap? I sure do, and of course, it is made super easy when the baby is so adorable! LOL! Not that I am biased or anything, but this little guy is way cute! Can't wait to meet him in person in March, and of course, by then he will be even cuter I am sure. Papers for this layout are from October Afternoon and Pink Paislee. The letters are Thickers. This layout is based on sketch #108 at the fun and oh so inpsiring sketch community called Sketch Inspirations. Go check it out, everyone there is super friendly and the sketches are fun too! Check back in tomorrow, cuz my first sketch for The Scrappiest will be posted, so excited about my first DT reveal, it will make Monday almost fun! LOL! You are gonna love this sketch!

Sketchy Fun

Ok, seriously, drawing these sketches is addictive! I am constantly jotting them down, at work, at my son's basketball game, just about anyplace..I am going to have to start carrying a sketch book with me. Here is my latest sketch and my layout based on it. The papers are Scenic Route (Garden Grove and Surprise) and the letters are Thickers and Paper Trunk. These pics are of my son and his friend trying out the $2 pogo stick they found at a garage sale in our neighborhood. My son's friend bought it and they both played and played with it, which prompted my son to ask for one for Christmas. He did get one and is really getting very good at this (I see another layout). This sketch is very simple, but I love the contrast of the one large and two smaller photos...very eye catching. Give it a try, I am sure you can use it to create a layout in less than 30 minutes like me! Enjoy and make sure and link your layouts made with this sketch in the comments I'd love to see your take on it!

Flash Back Friday

Seeing the pics of my new little nephew yesterday got me to thinking of my son when he was little. I have scrapped a lot of those pictures but some are still lying around waiting..(poor things) I made this layout for the 12 Days of Christmas Crop but never shared it on the blog and thought now was a good time. When I received the September 2009 kit from Personalscrapper and saw this veggie paper I immediately thought of these pics of my son when he was 5 mos old and then of course, thought "I knew I didn't scrap these for a reason"....yeah, that's right I had to wait TWELVE years for the right paper to come along! LOL! So here we have it. This layout made for the challenge at Personalscrapper to use a lot of white space on your page (I NEVER DO THAT) and this was a BIG challenge for me. I like the way it turned out even though its not my usual style. Papers are from the Farm Fresh and Report Card lines from October Afternoon. Journal stickers from American Crafts and Jenni Bowlin and alphas from Jillibean Soup (love these BTW). Layout is a lift of Lisa Dickinson's you can see her AWESOME work here. Looking forward to a good weekend of basketball and scrappin' two of my favorite things! TGIF!

Gotta Love the Boyfriend & Cosmo Cricket!

Howdy Cosmo Cricket fans! My all time fav Cosmo line (so far that is) is the Boyfriend line. Personalscrapper had a challenge to use at least NINE squares on a layout for one of the Winter Wonderland Crop challenges and this is the layout I came up with using the Cosmo Cricket Boyfriend line. I am so happy with how it turned out. I usually don't like layout with only small pics, but I think this one is one of my all time fav layouts I have made. I just love these pics of my son from last Labor Day. And now we have a sneaky peaky of the new lines Cosmo Cricket is releasing soon, and they are spectacular! My fav is JOY RIDE, but I really like them all! Plus they are introducing this awesome lush embossed cardstock as well as some yummy chipboard letters and the thing I am most excited about BUTTONS! You can check them out here....just a warning before you click though...it may be detrimental to your wallet! Happy Hump Day everyone!

Another sketch

I can't believe it has been a week since my last post, I have been busy creating, just not uploading..so gotta get on that. Check back all week, as I have lots to share. Here is my second sketch, I am hoping to make this a weekly post on Tuesday's. I find sketches make my layouts come together much quicker. As usual, if you make a layout based on the sketch, link it to the comments section so we can all see. For my layout based on this sketch I used Dream Street Sam papers from my October 2009 Personalscrapper kit. I was so sad to hear Dream Street is going out of business...I loved this line and was looking forward to getting more stuff from them. This pic is of my brother, SIL and son at our annual Vala's pumpkin patch trip last year, love that place! It was so cold this year we had to go on a weekday with all the school field trips, so it was a "different" experience, but it was still a lot of fun! This layout was also inspired by one of the Personalscrapper challenges for the Winter Wonderland crop which was to use buttons, flowers, and ribbon on your page. I picked this challenge to do as I have hard time using ribbon and flowers, so I was proud of myself for doing so on this layout! Now buttons, no prob for me, in fact I am always trying to stick buttons on my layout! LOL! Have a fabulous week folks!

Sketch Time!

Ok, I know this won't be a big deal for many of you, but I finally figured out how to create a sketch on my computer! I have hundreds of sketches in my little sketch book that I think of all the time and put on paper when I think of one so that I can create with it at a later date...but I never could share them with anyone cuz they were UGLY with a capital "U"...I mean my drawing skills are worse than a five year old people. And I have little patience for drawing things to scale...so I decided to just give it a whirl tonight when I sat down with this newest idea in my head and viola! I have a sketch! I hope you will feel free to use it to create a layout and if you do please link up in the comment section to your online gallery or blog, I'd love to see your work. I am thinking about making this a weekly thing here at Creative Endeavors as I just love sketches and hope you like mine!

The artic chill continues!

Yes, the artic chill is still here in Texas! In fact, it looks like it is taking over the whole country! LOL! Good news, it is to be in the 50's (FINALLY) starting next week, more NORMAL weather for us here anyway. I am in a winter mode as shown by the scrapbooking I have been doing lately. I finally finished up my Jan. 2009 Personalscrapper kit and I was able to use the scraps to make some awesome cards too. The Valentine's Day cards are going to a card drive that Winter is having on her blog...there is still time to participate if you want to. It is a great cause, she is taking 200 cards to the kids at St Judes! Wish I could have time to do more really. The thanks yous are for a friend celebrating a birthday this month. I made it simple by sticking to one main layout for all my cards. The layout is one showing the snow we had on Christmas Eve...I thought about doing a white Christmas as a title, but liked these Fancy Pants papers too well so here we are. There is an online crop going on at Personalscrapper and I hope to complete a few of the challenges this week (there are TWENTY!) so I'm off to try and scrap a bit before I must go back to the grind on Monday morn! LOL! Happy Sunday all!

Snow Fun!

Here is another layout I was able to get done using my January Personalscrapper kit from 2009. The challenge that sparked this layout was to use a 5x7 or larger photo on your page. I don't scrap a lot of large photos, but knew this one would look great as a 5x7 plus it went with my snow theme. I didn't even use a sketch for this layout folks. By this time I was down to scraps and this was the only large scrap I had left so this was my only real option. This is my son from our October trip to Nebraska where we saw the first snow of 2009. The papers are Fancy Pants ARtic Chill, the letters are thickers, and the felt snowflakes are from Stampin Up. I really think these colors look great with my photo. One of my scrappy goals for 2010 is to finish up SIX of my past kits, so I am well on my way to completing one! LOL! Hoping to scrap a bit more tonight, too cold to do much else!

2009 a year in review

Here it is, my annual year in review! I am so glad this was a challenge over at Personalscrapper for the 12 days of Christmas crop, otherwise I may have waited until things weren't so fresh in my mind to make this layout. I used the January 2009 Personalscrapper kit for this page, in fact, I used the same kit for my 2008 year in review! I am working on using up this kit. I think I can eek out 3 more pages and then it will be done. I really enjoyed this kit featuring Fancy Pants' Artic Chill. When I saw it on the website I was not overjoyed with it as a kit..I worried I wouldn't like the colors..well...worry not, it has turned out to be one of my fav kits ever! In fact, for that very reason, I love my Personalscrapper kits, cuz they push me to use products I never would have bought on my own...plus everything is so perfectly coordinated you can't help but LOVE them! I am enjoying my Saturday to just crop today and so am off to work on another challenge! Enjoy your weekend folks!

Happy 2010!

Happy New Year friends! It was an awesome 2009 and I am looking forward to an even better 2010. So what are your goals for this new year? Here are a few of mine:
1) Finish up six of my older scrapbooking kits 2) 250 posts on my blog 3) Keep Family night every Wednesday and spend good quality time with my son 4)try a new recipe every month. I could go on and on but I better stick with these four or I will end up not keeping any of them! LOL! This is one of the collages I made today as a year in review of my favorite photos/memories from 2009. I have my year in review page almost finished and here are some highlights from my journaling: Best time: vacation in Florida last June Funniest moment: Jake's french fries getting stolen off our table by a seagull while at Kennedy Space Center Weirdest thing: LOADS of SNOW! We were in FOUR snowstorms this year, one in Nebraska and THREE in Texas...weird for us Texans! Proudest moment: watching Jake perform at his first band concert Tear jerker moment: Jake starting Middle School in August. Hottest Moment: giving Pappa a fire wallet for Father's Day. Other highlights from 2009: attending a Cowboys game at the New Stadium, building a racetrack and wheelbarrow at Home Depot classes, going to the Dive in Movies with our good friends Angie and Logan, attending FPU, Jake's twelfth birthday party at Laser Quest, having a White Christmas, and New Year's Eve Wii family night with our family. It might be a hard year to beat for fun times and good memories, but we are looking forward to making more memories and I am looking forward to preserving them. We are truly blessed in our family and wish for you and yours a healthy, happy prosperous New Year! Blessings friends!
