New Sketch N Scrap blog!

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  I hope you are having a great holiday weekend and also hope everyone is taking time to reflect on the service of those who defend our country and make it so great as well as on the sacrifice of those who lost their lives defending us, we are blessed!  This week Sketch N Scrap has an exciting announcement for you!  Besides offering a weekly sketch with an awesome monthly prize we now have a new blog!  Please hop on over and check us out and sign up to be a follower so you won't miss out on all our sketches, inspiration and PRIZES!  We have a great prize by Chic Tags for May and I will be doing the drawing on Sunday, so please get your entries in by Sunday for a chance to win!  June's prize will be just as awesome and we hope you can play along with us in June too!  My layout features some awesome papers by We R Memory Keepers Anthologie line this week. I used an old Basic Grey die cut for my flower, it didn't match my papers so I just traced it onto one of the Anthologie papers and cut it out and glued it on my flower.  I then used my circle punches to make a center for my flower and a space to place my title.....an easy way to use up old stash while repurposing it to match your current papers!  Love this idea!  Please share any ideas you have for repurposing old embellies, we'd love to hear them!  My letter stickers are by Basic Grey (chipboard numbers) and letters by Pink Paislee!  Flowers are by Prima.  I hope you get a chance to play along with our sketch, can't wait to see your layouts and hope to see you on the NEW Sketch N Scrap blog this week!  Later friends!

Come play with us!

Come get your scrap on this week and play with us at Sketch n Scrap!  We'd love to see your take on this week's sketch.  Here is my take using a mix of patterned papers by Fancy Pants' Summer Soiree line and Scenic Route's Garden Grove line (I've almost used up all the Scenic Route stash I'v been hoarding!). Embellishments are by Fancy Pants from  their Beach Bum line as well as a Pea Pod from the Jillibean Soup Watermelon Gazapacho line.  Stickers are by My Little Shoe box and American Craft Thickers.  I had fun with this sketch and this was a first for me, I actually created the layout FIRST then created the sketch off of the layout.  Usually I sketch out my layouts first based on pictures I need to scrap, but this one just fell together from scraps I had on my desk and I liked it so much I turned it into a sketch so I can use it again in the future.  Don't forget to visit Sketch N Scrap to see the awesome work of the DT, they did an outstanding job!  Kelly's fish pics are a must see and Heather used Jillibean embellies in a very unique way!  I know you will be inspired.  Don't forget to play along as well, you have until Sunday to link up your layout for a chance at the awesome prize by Chic Tags!  Happy Scrapping friends!

More fun at Sketch N Scrap!

Welcome to week three of Sketch N Scrap!  So excited to have you join us for our third sketch, you have until this Sunday May 20th to create a layout based on this sketch for a chance to be entered into our monthly prize drawing.  The more you play the more chances you will get for the random draw so be sure to join us each week for another chance to win!  For my layout based on this sketch I used the Happy Days papers by Echo Park that I won on Facebook last year.  I LOVE the vibrant and happy colors in this collection!  I receieved my newest order of Bella Blvd designer tapes from Tammi at My Scraps and More just a FEW short days after placing my order!  What service!  I was so excited to see they matched this layout I was working on so I added them as the banners in the top left corner!  I can't wait to use them again real soon, they are all the rage right now!  These are the ONLY pics I got of my son, niece and nephew dyeing Easter egs this Easter!  These kids are so hard to get a good picture of together!  If one isn't messing around then the other is, or one's eye's are closed or something goofy!  I decided to go ahead and use these "not so good" pictures because they truly document how goofy these three goofballs are when they are together!  I can't wait to see your layouts based on my sketch!  Also, for more inspiration please visit Sketch N Scrap and see what awesome layouts the DT came up with using this same sketch!    Hope your week is filled with lots of scrappy time!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day !  I hope you are enjoying your day with some scrappy time!  I wanted to share my Mother's Day gifts with you today.  The first is a card I made my Mom using the May 2010 Personalscrapper kit featuring My Mind's Eye Stella Rose papers.  For my stamped images I used the flower from the BECAUSE I CARE set by Stampin Up,  FRENCH SCRIPT background stamp by Stampin UP to add  bit of texture  and the sentiment from ALL HOLIDAYS.  I used River Rock ink by Stampin up.  I think most of these things are discontinued but I am not sure.  It seems Stampin Up discontinues things fairly quickly and there are always new and better stamps/inks, which is fun but hard on your wallet! lol!   The second Mother's Day gift is an actual gift that I made for my sister for my son to give to her.  He wanted to get her a gift card and I thought it would be nice to make a little gift card holder to go on the hand soap we picked out for her from Bath and Body Works.  I used the same image as for my card and then mounted it on Basic Black cardstock by Stampin Up, scored it and then punched a 1.25 inch hole for the hanger and then scored it again to help it hang more evenly.  I just made up this template myself by using my gift card and the soap bottle and a piece of scrap paper to get my template. I saved the template in case I want to make these again for another occasion.  Wouldn't they make cute party favors?   As you can see I folded up the end of my cardstock and adhered the two sides leaving the top open so I could insert my gift card.  Now if you wanted these for party favors, you could just leave off the gift card!  Easy Peasy...I hope my sister likes it!  Thanks for looking and check back tomorrow for another fun sketch I have made for Sketch N Scrap!  Hope to see you playing along with us this next week at Sketch N Scrap

Another sketch for you!

Monday's can sometimes be downers right?  Well, here's a sketch to start your week off right!  I hope you will find some time to play along with us at Sketch and Scrap for this week's challenge.  Just create a layout based on today's sketch and then link it on the Sketch and Scrap blog for a chance to win a set of fun summer printable tags from Chic Tags!  You have until this Sunday to link up for a chance to enter the montly drawing!  For my layout I used Jillibean Soup papers from their Apple Cheddar and Sweet and Sour lines.   The journal spot is from the Watermelon Gazapacho line.  My letter stickers are a mix of some of my old stash by Scenic Route, October Afternoon and Heidi Swapp.  The flower is from Basic Grey.  This is a real simple sketch and I was able to finish my layout in less then one hour.  I hope you find it as easy to use as I did!  Even if you can't play along remember to stop by Sketch N Scrap to see what the DT did with this sketch!  Enjoy!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Happy NSD to all my scrapbooking peeps!  Were you able to celebrate with a little scrappy time today?  I sure hope so!  I was able to get crafty today, and heck, the day's still not over, so I may have another layout or two still in me!  I wanted to take a minute to pop on and share a layout I created for Week 13's challenge for the 52 week challenge over at Personalscrapper.  This challenge called Speed Racer, was to create a layout in an hour or less!  This layout took me about 40 minutes total , I used the March Personalscrapper kit which features Simple STories Yearology papers.  I did purchase the Yearology stickers separately but otherwise everything was in the kit.  Simple Stories is so "simple" to work with, you can literally create a page in minutes, if you don't have any in your stash I would encourage you to take advantage of some of the awesome specials online today for NSD and add some to your stash!  I want to mention that I did a little retail therapy as well today, Tammi at My Scraps and More is having a 40% sale PLUS FREE SHIPPING today and tomorrow in honor of NSD.  I added a bit of Bella Blvd and even some of the NEW Authentique Glory to my stash all for under $35!  We are heading to Philly this summer for vacation and I think the Glory papers will be PERFECT for my vacation photos at the Liberty Bell etc!  Another awesome tidbit to share for NSD...Sketch and Scrap has decided to extend the deadlines for the challenges from Friday to Sunday, so you still have a day and half to get your challenge in based on THIS sketch!  Hope you will spend a bit of your NSD with us at Sketch and Scrap!  Happy Scrapping!
