Everyday's a Holiday at Sketch N Scrap!

Welcome to Sketch N Scrap's holiday hop! I hope you have been enjoying seeing the multitude of fun and creative holiday projects the design team has shown you so far! I know I have been inspired! Today we are celebrating the red, white and blue!  My holiday is Independence Day!  I know some of you don't celebrate this holiday if you live outside of the United States, but you still get to play along with us today!  I decided to create a layout using the colors red, white& blue:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Authentique Glory; Letter stickers: Bella Blvd (red), Making
Memories (script), and Authentique (navy); stickers: Authentique & Bo Bunny; chipboard: Bo Bunny.

Even though this layout doesn't feature your typical Independence Day pictures of fireworks and outdoor fun, I think it definitely captures the essence of what Independence Day is all about.  I decided to show how grateful I am for those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that I can enjoy the wonderful freedom I do today. Over the past 3 years my son and I have visited several historic sites and as we walked on those hallowed grounds at Gettysburg, Valley Forge, and Arlington National Cemetery and visited the World War II and Korean War Memorials and the Vietnam Wall we were just in awe of those who were willing to die for freedom.  Freedom as we all know isn't free and we continue to be ever so grateful for those who have served and continue to serve to keep us that way.  I thought a layout depicting some of the pictures from these sacred places was a great way to remember that freedom isn't free and we should honor those who serve and never ever take this wonderful freedom we have for granted!  Besides sharing the inspiration of my project with you today I also wanted to offer up a little prize as well, because what fun is a blog hop without a prize! One randomly selected winner will win these fun red, white and blue washi tapes, perfect for adding these fun colors to your layouts!  These tapes were purchased at one of my favorite Etsy shops: Spiegel Mom's Scrap Shop!  If you need some fun embellishments for your pages, she has some great prices and neat stuff!

CTMH For Always

Hope everyone's October is going great! I'm excited to share with you another layout created for Lori Brown's CTMH design team!
Here it is:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: For Always & Huntington CTMH; journaling ovals & circles:
Crate Paper; letter stickers: Jillibean Soup; Cardstock: Stampin Up; stickers: Mambi & Crate Paper

This is a picture of my son and his fellow saxophone players in his Jazz Band. I love that the "B" side of the Huntington papers went so well with the For Always papers! These coordinated nicely with left over journaling circles and ovals I had from the Crate Paper Portrait line! I had one scrap of paper (shown in the right middle) that was from the Crate Paper Portrait line and was able to use that as a pop of color and an accent, (yes, I save pieces that small lol!) thank goodness it was the perfect size!  This goes to show that you can mix and match many different papers and get a look that is coordinated and looks like they were bought together!  This is especially a fun trick when you are down to scraps!  The larger black piece from the For Always line is the "A" side and I was able to use the "B" side (black flowers on white background) for my second pattern, thus using the ENTIRE piece of paper....PLUS the little strip on the bottom that you cut off, is the pretty small black medallion piece in the middle of my layout - this is one feature the CTMH utilizes that I LOVE, lets you use EVERY LAST bit of the paper! So long story short...don't forget those "B" sides!  If you'd like to order of the CTMH products I have used here or any other CTMH products visit Lori's website to shop and click on Lisa My Creative Endeavors sent me link on the home page!  Thanks and hope you have a creative hump day!

Sketch N Scrap #43

Time for our second layout sketch of October! This is a SPOOKY one to play along with!
Sketch by Kelly:

Here is my layout based on it (a not so spooky one!):
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Echo Park Little Boy, A walk in the Park; Fancy Pants
Down by the Shore; washi tape: My Mind's Eye & Bella Blvd; rub ons: Fancy Pants Down
by the Shore; Stickers & metal accent: Fancy Pants Down by the Shore.

My Dad captured this awesome picture of my nephew playing in the tub last year on his 3rd birthday! I loved being able to use these cute whales and sailboat rub ons!  I really do like rub ons and need to use them more often (I have a ton don't you?!)  I love taking a sketch and making it my own, here I only used one photo since that is all I had and also used a single sticker for my title vs alphas! So easy but I think it showcases the photo well!  I hope you will find time to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap this month.  You have until October 31st to complete a layout using this layout to be entered into a chance to win some awesome goodies from ScrapStuffz!  Details are HERE!  Have a happy scrappy day!
